so much for gentle people
In my previous blog, I have all praises for Dumaguete City and its people. But during my previous visit to Dumaguete City, all my good perceptions about that place was shattered.
I went to a certain hotel there. There I lost my wallet including my money. how did it happened? I pay in the counter for the room. The guard took my bag and said that he will be the one who would bring my bag to my room. when I arrived in my room, I looked for my wallet. It's gone. It took only about 5 minutes, then it's lost forever. I suspected two things. Either the guard took my wallet in my bag, since He is following me to my room and I can't see what he is doing, maybe he took my wallet. maybe not. Or maybe I left it in the counter and the front desk lady took it. anyway, whoever took my money, maybe he or she in dire need and didn't also want to took others people money.
I view now Dumaguete city like other cities in the Philippines. Gentle on the outside but will take advantage if it can. My oh my. I'm so naive then. Because of what happened, It's difficult for me now to trust strangers. How I wish I would trust again. It's easier to live without fear.

Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental
I recently visited Dumaguete City. It's a beautiful place. People there seems to live up to their slogan. that Dumaguete is a place of gentle people. It seems that all people there are nice. Here is a picture of Cathedral's belfry taken from Nokia 3100 camera phone.
One thing I noticed in Dumaguete City that is not common in Bacolod or Iloilo (Where I came from) is that there is a huge population of male foreigners with beautiful Filipina girlfriend/spouse. Maybe, they choose dumaguete because people there are more gently than people from other place. Maybe it's because of APO Island. The diving capital of the Philippines. I never been to Apo Island but my friend said that it is very beautiful. more beautiful than Boracay. she maybe referring to the underwater cause the beaches and sands of Boracay is so beautiful. Anyway, I have now a cheap camera. maybe the belfry of Dumaguete will look more beautiful in my next blog.
